Thank you for sharing your Ideas with me.
In my 300-level feminism course, I ask students to weigh in on a contemporary debate in popular culture. They are asked to conduct exploratory research to develop their position and then complete more specific research to craft their argument. You can learn more these assignments by reading the prompts for the first and second papers.
These examples demonstrate the ways that a clear prompt and supporting resources can help students to craft critical, engaging, and defensible essays. Both essays use creative approaches to complex problems, which reinforces the work that I'm doing in the class to guide discussions, thinking, analysis around controversial topics.
